Barnardos’ Children’s Bereavement Helpline Service

Barnardos Helpline Service is available from 10am-12pm Monday to Thursday to members of the public seeking information and support in relation to bereavement. The Helpline is operated by fully trained and supported volunteers.

Helplink Mental Health

Helplink Mental Health provides low-cost bereavement support in the form of counselling, 7 days a week to support you and/or your loved ones when you are going through the bereavement process.

It also has a specialist bereavement counsellor/therapist (Teresa Burns) who has completed an additional 60 hours of bereavement counselling training. This service is available nationwide via online counselling.

Irish Hospice Foundation Telephone Bereavement Support Service

Supports those who have been affected by bereavement during the COVID 19 pandemic. This is not a professional counselling service, however, the helpline can provide information on other services which provide this level of care, if that is required.

Healing Untold Grief Groups (HUGG) Galway

HUGG is a national suicide bereavement charity that helps people bereaved by suicide through its HUGG support groups, which are led by people who have been bereaved by suicide in a safe, confidential environment where attendeees can share their experiences and feelings, so giving and gaining support from each other.

HUGG provides a physical peer support group in Claregalway, which meets every 2 weeks.

It also offers two virtual groups, that are open to anyone over 18 years.
