Lots of resources and events available for Bereaved Children’s Awareness Week

By 14th November 2023No Comments

Bereaved Children’s Awareness Week began yesterday, Monday, November 13 and will run until this Friday, November 17 next.

This year’s theme is “Children grieve too”.

While many children can manage their grief effectively when they have the support of caring adults like parents, family members, teachers, or coaches, there are instances where adults may lack the knowledge to provide adequate support to the child, requiring assistance from outside sources.

The Irish Childhood Bereavement Network (ICBN) has coordinated a series of events and initiatives for Bereaved Children’s Awareness Week that include professional webinars and online support sessions for parents and carers, as well as local and regional events organised by ICBN members and friends.

A comprehensive listing of local and national events running as part of this campaign this week can be found HERE.

The ICBN has also created a Resources & Promotional Assets page on its website where you can download resources and imagery, to get involved in the campaign’s online conversation.

Another thing you can do to mark this important awareness campaign is to take one minute to watch the video below and learn how you can help to build a compassionate community where bereaved children are supported to express grief.
