Social Inclusion Week for Galway City is taking place from Saturday 27 November – Sunday 3 December 2023.
This year, social inclusion week coincides with ‘International Day for Persons with a Disability’ which takes place on Sunday 3 December.
Disability inclusion means understanding the way people participate in society, and making sure everybody has the same opportunities to take part to the best of their abilities and desires.
The theme for Social Inclusion Week 2023 is ‘J.A.M – Just a Minute of Patience’ because sometimes people need a little more patience and consideration to participate in the same way as everyone else.
Community groups and organisations are being encouraged to hold an event during the week which reflects on this theme and how the applicant organisation or society can better support the needs of people with disabilities to be included in all aspects of the community.
All events will be included in a programme which will promote and highlight the week’s activities.
Why should I get involved?
Social Inclusion Week is a great opportunity organisations and groups to showcase their excellent work. It is hoped that by working together participants can showcase all the good work that is taking place in Galway City.
