Expecting and parenting a baby can be a very happy time but it may also feel daunting and overwhelming and this talk is geared at all new expectant parents – mums and dads as well as caregivers and extended family members – anyone that may be supporting someone who has a baby.
Those who might be particular at risk of feeling isolated such as those from new communities, young mums and those that find it hard to engage are particularly encouraged to attend.
The talk will be addressed by senior clinical psychologist Dr Jeananne Garavan who will discuss:
- Getting to know your baby and responding to their emotional needs;
- Being a “good enough” parent;
- The emotional adjustment of becoming a parent;
- Parental wellbeing.
The talk will also signpost to key support services and will accommodate an opportunity for Q&A.
