Great Men’s Health Week events ongoing in Co Roscommon this week

Co Roscommon is demonstrating care and concern for the welfare of its male residents this week with a full programme of events to mark Men’s Health Week.

Men’s Health Week is celebrated in many European countries, as well as in the USA, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and several other places worldwide.

The overall aims of the week are to:

  • Heighten awareness of preventable health problems for males of all ages.
  • Support men and boys to engage in healthier lifestyle choices / activities.
  • Encourage the early detection and treatment of health difficulties in males.

International Men’s Health Week (MHW) always begins on the Monday before Father’s Day and ends on Father’s Day itself. 

The 2023 campaign began on Monday, June 12th and will run until Sunday, June 18.

Representatives of the county’s local authority were on hand to participated in a recent photoshoot (see below) to highlight the campaign. The programme of local events is also outlined below in a poster.

Celebrating Men’s Health Week in Co Roscommon were Tom Crosby – Cathaoirleach of Roscommon County Council, Raymond Whelehan – Senior Library Assistant, Roscommon Libraries, Kevin McGrath – Driver Assistant, Roscommon Libraries.
