A charity farm open day will be hosted in Bonniconlon, Co Mayo this Easter Saturday 8th April in aid of the organisation Embrace FARM that supports farming families who have suffered the sudden loss of a loved one.
Event hosts Patrick & Melissa Walsh of the Bonniconlon Valais Blacknose flock have coordinated an action-packed programme of events for the day at their family farm (F26T024).
West Be Well is proud to have a representative in attendance on the day – our committee member Siobhan McBrearty who is a Resource Officer for Suicide Prevention, Co. Mayo.
The event aim is to bring the local agri community together for a fun-filled, family event focused on farm safety.
The benefiting charity, Embrace FARM, was set up in 2012 by Norma & Brian Rohan following the fatal loss of Brian’s father Liam in a farm accident on the family farm.
The family felt there was no support for people in similar situations and wanted to hold a remembrance service to commemorate all the lives lost and injured in farm accidents in Ireland each
year.
The Remembrance Service has been held on the last Sunday in June since 2014.
Embrace FARM has since grown to support almost 400 farm families through its peer-to-peer support services and its new Encircle EIPAGRI Programme which offers free emotional support (counselling) and practical guidance to farm families (Agri/Legal/Financial Services).
Today Embrace FARM supports families affected by all types of sudden death and loss on the farm.
Highlights of the fundraising event in Bonniconlon on April 8 next will include live animal displays, children’s entertainment, an Easter egg hunt, pony rides, music, a jiving competition, a BBQ, a mega raffle, an auction and so much more.
Admission costs €15 per vehicle and thereafter all activities are FREE for all.
The fun begins at 11am on the day. All proceeds will go to the Embrace Farm Charity
