Belmullet health fair to showcase FREE wellbeing programmes

HSE Community Healthcare West and Mayo Co Council will host a community health fair in Belmullet on March 1 next.

This initiative is the result of the Sláintecare Healthy Communities Initiative.

Launched in 2021, this initiative targets the north Mayo area as one of 19 sites nationwide to benefit from investment to improve the long-term health of the target population and improve the quality of life of individuals in those communities under the Healthy Communities Programme.

The north Mayo area covered includes the towns and villages of Ballycastle, Glenamoy, Bangor Erris, Belmullet, Ballycroy, Mulranny, Achill Sound and all of Achill Island.  

The Sláintecare Healthy Communities Initiative is designed to develop locally led programmes that will help improve the overall health and well-being of people in this community.

There is continuous joint collaboration between the HSE and Mayo County Council on this project and the upcoming health fair in Belmullet on March 1 next will showcase the programmes to the local population. All programmes are FREE.

The event will run from 7-9pm. MC on the night will be Midwest Radio presenter, Michael D. McAndrew and there will free diabetes and blood pressure checks courtesy of Diabetes Ireland and Croí.

Admission is FREE and no booking is required. Refreshments will be provided.
