Longford Westmeath CYPSC Youth Forum has just launched a unique and informative video series called #UnderstandingSocialMedia which will be helpful for both young people and parents/guardians.
The series was produced and launched yesterday to mark #SaferInternetDay on Tuesday, February 7 last.
What is perhaps most novel about this initiative from Longford Westmeath CYPSC Youth Forum is that it explores social media from a young person’s perspective with an additional message for adults in relation to young people’s social media use: ‘Don’t ban us, Understand us’.
The videos are a result of the LW CYPSC Internet Safety component, of the Healthy Ireland funded ‘Our Voice Our Wellbeing’ initiative in which 75 young people from across Longford and Westmeath participated.
The series is comprised of six videos in total, with each one featuring young members of Longford Westmeath CYPSC Youth Forums exploring one of the following themes: Snapchat, Cyberbullying, Instagram, Tik Tok, Facebook and how to get smart on social media.
