Tuesday, October 11th is National Coming Out Day.
To mark this, BeLonG To is hosting a free online workshop for parents and carers of LGBTQ+ young people.
Established in 2003, BeLonG To Youth Services is the national organisation supporting lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex (LGBTI+) young people in Ireland.
BeLonG To knows that it can be tough on a parent or carer when their child comes out as LGBTQ+.
The child has probably come to terms with their sexual orientation or gender identity and felt comfortable enough about it to come out. Now it’s the parents’ turn to deal with this in the best way that they can.
Family support and acceptance is critical to the wellbeing of LGBTQ+ young people and BeLonG To’s expert Youth Workers will be on hand at the Earn Your Stripes workshop to answer your questions and talk about:
- Supporting Your Child
- Supporting Yourself
- Terminology And Language
Whether someone in your family has come out as LGBTQ+, or you think your child may be LGBTQ+, join the FREE Earn Your Stripes workshop from 7-8pm on Tuesday, October 11th.
This workshop will take place online.
You are welcome to turn your camera on and participate by asking questions or just to listen in.
