New LGBTI+ telefriending service now available

By 13th December 2021No Comments

In recent months, LGBT Ireland has been working on launching a new LGBTI+ telefriending service for members of the LGBTI+ community over 50 years of age who may be experiencing loneliness and isolation.

The telefriending service is now open to receive referrals nationwide, where a person receives a weekly supportive call from a dedicated LGBTI+ Telefriending Volunteer.

Telefriending provides friendship, security and support to alleviate loneliness, isolation and improve overall mental health and well-being.

Individuals can self-refer or be referred by services through a dedicated website at: https://lgbt.ie/telefriending/ and choosing the ‘Apply Now’ button to complete the online referral form.

Telefriending volunteers are also being actively recruited. Interested applicants can apply online through the Telefriending webpage.
