New LGBTI+ telefriending service accepting referrals

New LGBTI+ telefriending service accepting referrals

In recent months, LGBT Ireland has been working on launching a new LGBTI+ Telefriending Service for members of the LGBTI+ community over 50+ who may be experiencing loneliness and isolation.

The Telefriending Service is now open to receive referrals nationwide, where a person receives a weekly supportive call from a dedicated LGBTI+ Telefriending Volunteer.

Telefriending provides friendship, security and support to alleviate loneliness and isolation and improve overall mental health and wellbeing.

It offers a great opportunity for individuals to talk regularly with other people who also identify as members of the LGBTI+ community.

Individuals can self-refer or be referred by services by visiting this website: https://lgbt.ie/telefriending/ and choosing the ‘Apply Now’ button to complete the online referral form.

Telefriend volunteers are also being actively recruited at present via the same Telefriending webpage.
