Webinar: Implementation of Mindout Schools Programme in Mayo

On Thursday, November 18 next Mental Health Ireland will host a FREE webinar from 10am to 12.30pm about the implementation of Mindout Mayo – a social and emotional learning (SEL) programme for post-primary schools.

It will focus on the operation of the programme in six schools in Mayo and will be of particular interest to schools, teachers, school management, parents of post-primary school aged children, health promoters, and community organisations

MindOut is a universal SEL programme for post-primary school students (15-18 years old) in Ireland and was designed to be delivered by teachers through the Social Personal and Health Education (SPHE) curriculum.

A partnership with Mental Health Ireland, Mayo MHA, Mindspace Mayo, HSE Health and Wellbeing and the Health Promotion Research Centre at NUI Galway was created to support the implementation and evaluation of the MindOut programme in Mayo schools.

This project was commissioned and funded by Mental Health Ireland.

Highlights of the webinar will include:

  • Findings of a study carried out by Katherine Dowling and Margaret M. Barry from the Health Promotion Research Centre National University of Ireland which reports on a process evaluation.
  • Testimonies from school participants, students themselves, teachers and Principals.
  • Coordinators and project leads from Mayo Mental Health Association will discuss supporting the implementation of MindOut in Mayo.
  • Anne Sheridan and Meabh McGuinness (HSE) will present an overview of the MindOut Programme & Promoting Mental Health in School.
