Webinar outlines how Eden Programme deters from suicide

If you or someone you know has thought about or attempted suicide, then the Eden Programme may be of assistance.

A FREE live and interactive webinar about The Eden Programme will be staged at 4pm today, Wednesday, September 29.

Run by the HSE’s National Counselling Service (NCS) in partnership with Suicide or Survive, Eden is an educational programme that also incorporates a therapeutic element and is geared at supporting people to move away from suicide as an option in times of crisis.

The programme has been running since 2007 and has been externally evaluated by DCU.

Recruitment is currently underway for the programme in Galway, Mayo, and Roscommon.

Open to people over the age of 18 years who have attempted or contemplated suicide, Eden provides a safe space where participants can explore their experiences, learn skills to help them monitor and manage their mental health and build a range of supports appropriate to their needs.

Participants need to self-refer to the programme and thereafter will be offered a screening which will lead to an interview to identify their needs and whether additional supports are required so that they can be put in place prior to the commencement of the programme.
