Online maternal mental health symposium

An online maternal mental health symposium will be staged on Thursday, September 30.

Brought  to you by the Saolta University Health Care Group and the Centre for Nursing and Midwifery Education, the event will run from 9am to 4pm.

Presenters on the day will include Dr Lucy Moran (Consultant Perinatal Psychiatrist:
University Hospital Galway) who will discuss “Suicidal ideation in the Postnatal Period”; Katherine McEvoy (Consultant Perinatal Psychiatrist) whose presentation is based on “The effect of an integrated mental health clinic on obstetric outcomes and healthcare utilization: a pilot study”; Conal Harpur (Clinical Nurse Specialist: in Perinatal Mental Health) will also speak at the symposium as will Siobhan O’Connor (Perinatal Mental Health Midwife) whose presentation is called “Listening to women: a discussion of women’s birth experiences and trauma-informed care.”

“A lived experience of severe post-natal depression with psychosis” is the title of the presentation that will be delivered by Nikki Fallon.

Senior Clinical Psychologist Dr Malie Coyne will also address the symposium about a perinatal video series by psychologists supporting new parents during Covid-19.
