Online support and information meeting for bereaved parents

Online support and information meeting for bereaved parents

Anam Cara – the all-island support organisation for bereaved parents and families – will host a helpful information night online on Thursday evening, September 16 next at 7pm.

This event has been coordinated to help give grieving parents a chance to listen to an experienced professional talk about the difficulties and challenges posed by the loss of a child as well as to meet others going through a similar experience.

The guest speaker on the night is Peter McCartan.

A qualified senior medical social worker and registered systemic family therapist, Peter has worked extensively with families who have experienced the death of their child.

He will open the evening with a short talk on parental grief, covering the different circumstances of death, whether expected or sudden.

Peter will also talk about the impact the death of a son or daughter can have on grieving parents and surviving siblings, along with the complex issues grieving parents must face, highlighting what is normal in the process.

After Peter’s talk, there will be an opportunity for parents to talk to Anam Cara Facilitators and volunteer parents.
