Free mental health and wellbeing resources for August

HSE Health and Wellbeing commenced its latest free online stress control programme this week.

This initiative aims to teach participants practical skills to deal with stress.

It is delivered online across six, ninety minute sessions – each one dedicated to a different theme.

Participants are encouraged to watch all sessions but can join at any stage for one ore more class.

The programme commenced yesterday, Monday, August 2 with an exploration of what stress is and this session will remain available to view until 11pm tomorrow night, Wednesday, August 4.

The following day will see the release of the second session which focusses on how to control your body. It can be viewed at 9am on Thursday, August 5 and will remain available up until 11pm on Sunday, August 8.

Controlling your Thoughts is the theme of the third session which will be released at 9am on Monday, August 9 and can be watched back until 11pm on Wednesday, August 11.

The session for Thursday, August 12 will address Controlling your Actions and will be broadcast at 9am. If you are not available then you can watch it back any time up until Sunday, August 15 at 11pm.

There will be great tips for how to deal with an onset of panic and how to get a good night’s sleep in the Monday, August 16 session which will be released at 9am and can be watched back up until 11pm on Wednesday, August 18.

The Stress Control programme will concluded on Thursday, August 19 at 9am with a session dedicated to helping you control your future. It will be available up until 11pm on Sunday, August 22.

HSE Health and Wellbeing is also making its free online Minding Your Wellbeing mental health and wellbeing programme available throughout August via www.yourmentalhealth.ie

The programme consists of a series of five 20 minute video sessions.

A further stress and anxiety management initiative is also accessible on YouTube courtesy of the Department of Occupational Therapy in Mental Health at St James’ Hospital.

The course is 40 minutes long and broken down into four parts:
