Deadline looming for 2020 Mayo Garda Youth Award nominations

Deadline looming for 2020 Mayo Garda Youth Award nominations

Do you know a young Mayo person or a group of young people in the county who are making an invaluable difference to their community?

If so then give them the recognition they deserve and nominate them for the Annual Mayo Garda Youth Awards.

Now in its third year, the award initiative celebrates outstanding young Mayo people (aged between 13 and 21) and acknowledges their efforts to make their communities a better place.

The awards, which are sponsored by SuperValu in association with The Western People, are more important than ever this year given the unprecedented challenges that the Covid-19 pandemic has has created for communities everywhere in the last year and the associated sacrifices that have been made by all, including young people.

The four award categories are:

Individual Award – Making a positive contribution to their community, making it a better place to live.

Group Award – Groups of two or more making a positive contribution to their community, making it a better place to live.

Special Achievement Award – Overcame difficult circumstances, defied the odds, and whose commitment deserves recognition.

Community Safety Award – Through a crime prevention or safety initiative/innovation made their community a safer place to live.

The presentation of awards will be organised in adherence with all Government Covid-19 guidelines.

The closing date for the receipt of completed nomination forms is Friday, May 28.

You can download a form via the link below and, once completed, return it either by emailing MayoGardaYouthAwards@garda.ie or by post to Mayo Garda Youth Awards, Garda Station, Lord Edward Street, Ballina, Co. Mayo, F26 TR62
