Three new HUGG peer support groups for people bereaved by suicide
In line with their aim to make peer support available to anyone bereaved by suicide, HUGG are delighted to announce that they are starting three new HUGG groups. These are HUGG Cork, HUGG YoungAdults and HUGG LGBTI+ .
As with all of their groups, facilitators are trained volunteers with a lived experience of suicide.
HUGG Young Adults starts on Tuesday, 20th April. It is aimed at 18-25 year olds, who need their own space to share their losses. It will be facilitated by two wonderful young facilitators Glenn Jennings and Gemma Clabby.
Finally, the HUGG LGBTI+ group is open to anyone over 18 years. HUGG recognise that marginalised groups are at a higher risk of dying by suicide and support should be targeted accordingly. First meeting 23rd March or 6th April, depending upon demand. It will be led by Sinead Casey and Drew Murphy.
If you have been bereaved by suicide, or know someone who has, and think you would benefit from our support groups, please complete the ‘join a new group’ form on the home page of www.hugg.ie or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Or leave a message on 01 513 4048 and HUGG will call them back.
