Mindspace Mayo Launches Outreach Service in Ballina
Mindspace Mayo have recently opened their second outreach service located in Ballina in order to facilitate & support young people in this area. It can be particularly difficult for young people in more rural areas of the county to find and attend support services when they feel distressed. These young people face major barriers that prevent them from attending services such as lack of transport, geographical distance, sense of isolation and confidentiality.
Mindspace Mayo is a free, confidential, support service for those aged between 15 and 25 in Mayo. They provide non-judgemental listening and supportive guidance to young people experiencing a difficult or distressing time. Advice and guidance is also provided to anybody who is concerned about a young person’s mental health.
The aim of the Mindspace outreach program in Ballina is to provide essential support for young people in their own locality, in a setting that feels safe and comfortable for the young person. Mindspace are available every Monday located in the Ballina Family Resource Centre (Abbey Street) and provide one-to-one support for young people living in Ballina and surrounding areas (Crossmolina, Killala, Foxford, Ardagh, Knockmore, Bonniconlon, Ballycastle and others)
